A feasibility study completed in June 2014 and updated in December 2016 has outlined Proven and Probable mineral reserves in Brucejack’s Valley of the Kings comprising 8.1 million ounces of gold (15.6 million tonnes grading 16.1 grams per tonne gold). About the Opportunity  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Journeyman Millwright to join the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia

Located approximately 65 kilometers from Stewart, you will report to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor or designate and work a rotating schedule encompassing 14 days on, 12 days off with 2 travel days

In this role, you will ensure all maintenance activities common to a mining and milling operation, building, construction and site operation(s) are maintained in safe and working order through scheduled and routine maintenance and assessment of wear on major equipment components. You will also ensure compliance with all Pretivm Health & Safety and other relevant policies and regulations.

You will perform the following duties, with safety being the number one priority: 

  • Monitoring the condition of rotating machinery utilizing parameters including vibration, temperature, pressures, flows, and currents
  • Taking field vibration readings, and understanding basic data
  • Understanding and assessing the daily operation of various types of equipment including centrifuges, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, conveyors, screw feeders, mills, conveyors, crushers, blowers and pumps
  • Providing recommendations to improve reliability, based on assessment
  • Maintaining equipment to design specifications including, but not limited to, centrifugal pumps, reciprocating pumps & compressors, fans, gear reducers/increasers & other mechanical equipment (valves, operators, testing tools)
  • Replacing pump seals, mechanical seals, pump packing
  • Providing proper alignment for all rotating equipment
  • Performing preventative/predictive maintenance and troubleshooting problems
  • Determining material needs, sequence of operations, and job methods including the use of a computer for storing and using information for preventive/predictive maintenance
  • Maintaining familiarity with warehouse parts management, design specifications, and applicable maintenance procedures
  • Keeping maintenance records
  • Instructing apprentices
  • Reading blueprints, schemas, and drawings

Successful candidates will have a trade qualification as an Interprovincial Journeyman Millwright (Red Seal) certification in combination with a minimum of three (3) years of mechanical experience completing millwright activities in an industrial environment. A valid driver's license is also required.  

You will also demonstrate the ability to:  

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Install, align and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators using hand and power tools
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, fork lifts and man lifts to position machinery and parts repair of machinery
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Weld repairs and complete fabrication tasks as well as cutting and lancing operations
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, and work in close quarters with the team
  • Maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts
  • Comfortably work in an underground setting and work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Pass pre-employment medical, drug, and alcohol screening

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role, as is proficiency with Microsoft applications. Working knowledge of JDE is also considered an asset. A valid driver's license is required.
