A feasibility study completed in June 2014 and updated in December 2016 has outlined Proven and Probable mineral reserves in Brucejack’s Valley of the Kings comprising 8.1 million ounces of gold (15.6 million tonnes grading 16.1 grams per tonne gold). Pretivm trades on the TSX and NYSE under the ticker symbol "PVG".

About the Opportunity  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Planner to join the Brucejack Gold Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia.    

Located approximately 65 kilometers from Stewart, you will report to the Maintenance Manager or designate, and work a rotating schedule encompassing 14 days on, 12 days off, plus 2 days of travel (16-12). 

The Maintenance Planner’s primary responsibility is to establish and implement a mechanical asset maintenance strategy to ensure the capability, reliability and availability of all surface and underground light and heavy duty equipment at the Brucejack Gold Mine. Concurrently, this position is responsible for developing, directing and monitoring planned preventive and predictive maintenance programs for the greatest operating profit while maximizing equipment efficiencies as per manufacturer’s specifications in support of operational deadlines and objectives.

Key duties and responsibilities also include, but are not limited to the following:

  • In consultation with the Mechanical Supervisor, coordinate the activities of Mechanics, Welders, and maintenance service contractors
  • Deliver daily updates at morning meeting to communicate mechanical and/or equipment availability issues/actions.
  • Follow up on daily Preventative Maintenance (PM) and repairs to ensure equipment will be running on time/as planned.
  • Monitor and evaluate equipment operating procedures to minimize equipment failures and downtime. 
  • Develop and implement an asset management data base system to efficiently and effectively plan predictive and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Manage data collection to identify equipment usage & breakdown trends to mitigate potential future equipment failures and recommend changes when deemed necessary. 
  • Develop and maintain accurate maintenance plans and service schedules in an environment of ever changing priorities
  • Prepare work plans for daily, weekly and long-term maintenance to ensure goals are achievable within the maintenance schedule and evaluate maintenance system and implement alternative procedures if deemed necessary.
  • Coordinate in a timely and effective manner in order to meet maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate labour, parts and equipment to ensure that all the necessary materials are available for the planned repairs/PM to meet priorities and production schedules.
  • Prepare time estimates for work orders and jobs to optimize resource allocation.
  • Work with Supply Chain personnel to ensure stock levels for equipment parts are in constant supply
  • Prepare parts/labour operating cost reports for budget planning.
  • Monitor associated working costs to identify equipment & materials for capital budget considerations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities to support the successful operation of the Brucejack Gold Mine. 

Above all, you will provide visible leadership and adherence to all Pretivm safety & environmental standards, and also incorporate site safety and environmental standards into each individual job plan to mitigate risk & hazards in the workplace.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 7 years or more of progressively related experience in a maintenance role combined with three (3) to five (5) years in a supervisory role.  Knowledge of JD Edwards is a definite advantage, as is a comprehensive understanding of maintenance best practice and protocols, as well as predictive maintenance technologies and applications.  

Strong computer navigation skills are essential for success in this role, and proficiency with JD Edwards, MS Office applications, and CMMS Super Users is preferred. 

As a superior communicator, both written and verbal, you must be capable of interacting effectively with all levels of the organization and possess excellent analytical, time-management and persuasion skills.
